TrendMicro Linux Virus Scanner ------------------------------ Download from: ftp://ftp.antivirus.com/products/freetools/filescanlinux.tar Updated engine: ftp://ftp.antivirus.com/products/engine (Latest engine currently: vsapi-x86-linux-6.860-1001.tar.z) Updated pattern files: ftp://ftp.antivirus.com/products/pattern/ptn*.tar (See contrib/update-vscan-pattern.pl for a script to automatically update the pattern file) Minimal Installation: 1) Create /etc/iscan directory 2) Untar filescanlinux.tar into /etc/iscan directory 3) isbase.tz is the only file required. isadm.tz, isinst, license.txt, manual.pdf, and readme.txt can safely be deleted to cut down on clutter. Read the license.txt if you're curious about the legal details. 4) Ungzip and untar isbase.tz into the /etc/iscan directory 5) geteng, libvsapi.so, lpt$vpn.???, and vscan are the only files required. cleanscan, gentrial, intscan.ini*, iscanpsw, isgetcfg, macr$gen.???, macro.list, prescan.cgi, srvscan, upgrade, and uplog can safely be deleted to cut down on clutter. 6) Download the updated engine and ungzip/untar it into the /etc/iscan directory. The .a library isn't necessary. The .so library will replace the engine that came with the filescanlinux.tar distro. 7) Toss the update-vscan-pattern.pl script into a cron job, run it once to immediately upgrade the pattern file. Maximum Installation: I don't bother. If you untar filescanlinux.tar and run the isinst program, you can install the entire package, including a daemon and cgi interface and lots of fluff. But I believe I had problems last time I tried this on a newer linux distro. The installation program does some annoying system checks and won't always run. Or something. It's been a while since I've tried. Legal Stuff: Read the license.txt file for the details. I wish I could simply toss a .tgz with the ready-to-run /etc/iscan directory, but I can't. Redistribution isn't allowed. The short version: It is free, it is without warranty of any kind, and it is not limited to non-commercial entities.
